Asterand Bioscience understands the importance of immuohistochemistry to the drug discovery and companion diagnostic researchers. Our scientists work in a GLP-accredited laboratory following established protocols and utilizing multiple established IHC platforms. With multiple detection and analysis platforms at hand, Asterand Bio is able to optimize and validate IHC protocols to specific requirements and needs.

Range of Different Human Tissue Types and Diseases Enables Protein Expression Analysis Across Key Disease Areas

Our extensive biobank is full of of readily available and well-characterized normal and diseased human tissues, enabling fast turnaround time to experimental results. Target protein immunoreactivity can be studied using full-face tissue sections or, to vastly increase throughput of data generation, in Tissue Microarrays. Furthermore, we can design and construct high quality FFPE or frozen custom TMAs for a specific project or application. TMA methodologies are used to support various applications, including:
• Target and biomarker validation of antibodies and binding molecules in drug development
Companion diagnostic assay development and testing
• Tissue cross-reactivity (TCR) safety studies
Asterand Bioscience is a member of the UK Good Laboratory Practice compliance program and offers TCR studies conducted to GLP if required.

Expertise in Cellular Phenotyping Supports a Deeper Understanding of Target Localization

Identification of specific cell populations that express a target protein of interest can be achieved using dual labeling immunofluorescence. This can provide further detail and confirm the specific phenotypes of target immunoreactive cells. Asterand Bioscience has experience in dual labeling techniques using tissue sections and isolated primary cells.

techDual labeling immunofluorescent detection of pancreatic islet marker proteins in human frozen pancreas sections, cytospins prepared from dispersed human islets and Islet OrganDots™. Insulin is visualized as red and islet cell marker proteins as green fluorescence. Overlapping distribution appears as yellow fluorescence. These confocal images indicate specific staining of β (insulin and C-peptide), γ (glucagon) and δ (somatastain) cells.
