Virtual Pathology

We are implementing the use of the Aperio Digital Pathology system for all specimens. However, during our transition, some slides will only be available in our standard 4X or 20X formats. To discuss the ability to see your images as whole slides, please contact your Asterand Bioscience Business Development representative.

You may annotate images using either WebScope or ImageScope. However, your annotations will not be saved with the image unless you save a snapshot of the image and annotation using ImageScope to your local PC. If you have issues installing or using ImageScope, please consult with your company IT administrators.

Due to the size of the image files (250-500MB compressed), downloading the files over the Internet is not practical. Asterand Bio will supply image files on an external hard disk as an additional service. Using ImageScope, you may save snapshots of the image as either a .jpeg or .tiff file for viewing within any standard image viewing software. If you have issues installing or using ImageScope, please consult with your company IT administrators.

Asterand Bio images will be available for a minimum of 3 years from the date of purchase.

The ImageScope viewer offers many features not available in the WebScope, such as: Ability to view multiple slides concurrently and to synchronize panning and zooming, modify color balance, participate in digital slide conferences and generally faster and more responsive

Imagescope is provided free of charge by Leica®. After opening the image in WebScope, click on the “view: ImageScope” link in the upper right corner. A dialog box will open with the link to “Download and install image scope”. You will be directed to the Leica website and must submit a registration to download the software. Please note that your IT policies may prohibit downloading or installing applications. Asterand Bioscience is unable to support the use of ImageScope on your computer. Your browser version or settings may affect the defualt behavior of ImageScope. Safe sites and compatibility modes may resolve this behavior.
